We found Big Ben! A couple friends and I decided we would head out to the city to find all the “tourist” areas. We saw so many beautiful pieces of history today and I have more pictures than I could ever need. Fortunately for us, it was perfect weather and did not experience one drop of rain (which we know will never happen again). Today, Ali, Brooke, Kaysie, and I experienced what London is all about.
First, we came up on the one and only, BIG BEN. The tube dropped us off directly under it.
We walked across the bridge, saw the London Eye and all of the incredible buildings within the city. I could not even express how breathtaking it was to stand in the center of London and be surrounded by this British culture.
We made our way over the bridge towards the main entrance of the London Eye and found The London Dungeon. This place could have been perfect for Universal Studios. It takes you through the last 1,000 years of London’s history through an interactive ride/show/walkthrough experience. You learn about Jack the Ripper, The plague, Treason – King James, Sweeney Todd, and other gruesome characters and people throughout the ages. It literally brings the past to life. We held on to each other for dear life, and were probably more scared than some of the children who went. Especially when we went into the Torture chamber. The executioner was explaining the types of weapons used on people who protested the king, and she grabbed a “tool”, while simultaneously a little boy in the front shouted, “That’s a weenie chopper!” I can’t make this up. What was worse? He was correct. So, there’s that…
We took a couple more pictures of the London Eye and of Big Ben from across the river.
We took this route past the eye and towards a bridge on the other side. On our way, we ran into many characters…
And us, of course!
Oh, and I got another picture with my favorite animal. 🙂
I had to fight off a couple kids for this picture, but it was definitely worth it. Ha!
We eventually found our way to The Tower of London, and the London Bridge.
DISCLAIMER: THESE PHOTOS DO NOT DO THESE LOCATIONS JUSTICE TO HOW INCREDIBLE THEY ACTUALLY WERE IN PERSON.
Today could not have been more perfect. Great views, great food, perfect weather, and even better company. If you have not had the opportunity to come to London, I recommend you add it to your bucket list. This city never ceases to amaze me. The best part? We haven’t even scratched the surface. Here is to many more memories during our time here!
